So - I made the hubby take me to see They Might Be Giants on Thursday night. I've liked them for years so when I found out they were here for one night I said "What the hell? Might as well go." There is a cafe next to the venue so we popped in there for dinner. The place was pretty empty and the seater put us way in the back (non-smoking). As soon as we sat down my hubby (ever vigilant) noticed that his napkin wasn't exactly clean so I told him to switch it out with the empty table behind us. While perusing the menu - a group of guys sat at the corner table behind us. After a few minutes two girls came over to the guys and asked for their autograph - They Might Be Giants was sitting right behind us! I hadn't noticed since I was looking over the menu and their backs were to us. Pretty cool - until...my husband (who couldn't care less about them) asked if he could get my pic taken with them. The answer from fat John was no and a little on the rude side in my opinion. The great part was that he (fat John) ended up being the one using the dirty napkin. Karma baby!!
Sooo...we get inside the venue around 8:00 and it's a pit! I guess it used to be a 1 or 2 screen theater way back in the day. Now it's just a shell with a couple of bars, a stage and a floor. Not what I was expecting at all. Did I mention it was excruciatingly hot too? No a/c in this place - so glad I showered and dressed for this. Finally around 9 or so this guy comes on stage and plays the most horrible and stupid songs I've ever heard (keep in mind what concert I'm at). He was so bad I was ready to leave and say forget the band. He finally blessed us with his departure and we proceeded to wait another 30-45 min. for the band to come on. The hubby and I have become puddles by this point. We started buying ice from the bar to rub on ourselves (not foreplay - just really hot). The band came out - finally - and the rest was fine and they managed to put on a pretty good show.
Now - because I made my husband go through all of this misery with me - I have to go to the Hootie concert at the end of the month! Paybacks can be Hell.
